ARIZONA Desk Map Program
AN EXCITING, HANDS ON APPROACH TO ARIZONA GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY

This highly successful program literally draws students into the subject of Arizona geography by allowing them to use dry erase pens to complete directed instruction activities right on their individual laminated Desk Maps.

One side of this folded map covers detailed information appropriate for intermediate and above grade students. The other side displays basic geographical features for developmental activities. Both sides include inset maps for building historical and geographical relationships.

The Desk Map Program includes teacher directed activities, overhead transparencies, and Blackline Master pages for independent work by the student.

Native Peoples of the Southwest
THE LIVES, LORES, HISTORY AND FASCINATION OF SOUTHWESTERN INDIANS

Cloud Publishing’s Native Peoples of the Southwest is a multimedia instruction program designed by the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona, in cooperation with educators, subject matter specialists and tribal members. This program is a rich mixture of artifacts, colored slides, overhead transparencies, student readings, plus audio cassettes featuring the voices, songs and observations of tribal members working in concert to arouse curiosity and broaden student interest.

The program is divided into five units covering social studies concepts that are widely accepted at a variety of levels. All materials were field tested at the elementary levels but are also appropriate for higher grades.

Each unit features illustrated Student Booklets supported by complete lesson sequences outlined in the Teachers Resource Binder. Individual sections illustrate social studies, ecological and science concepts, while enriching language arts and demonstrating the applications of anthropology.

Units include:
Inde’: The Western Apache, focuses on Apache family life.

Hopi: The Desert Farmers, examines life in Hopi communities.

Anasazi: The Ancient Villagers, presents the archaeology and cultural history of living Pueblo Indians.
‘O’odham: Indians of the Sonoran Desert, emphasizes cultural geography and human adaptations to the desert environment.

Dine’: The Navajo, teaches how cultures change and evolve as they encounter one another.

Artifacts included with the Teachers Resource Binder: (Clockwise) Navajo Dye Chart, ‘O’odham Basket, Anasazi Ceramic Vessel, Miniature Apache Burden Basket, and Hopi Rattle.

Arizona: Government and Citizenship by Cloud PublishingARIZONA: Government and Citizenship
A standards based, multifaceted look at Arizona state government and institutions.

Cloud Publishing's comprehensive ARIZONA: Government and Citizenship program features a unique mix of attention-getting graphics and easy-to-read text. Together, they provide the tools to capture students' interest and build progressively on their knowledge.

Program materials advance logically and systematically, developing our state government social studies standards.  High-interest information and concepts are designed to focus student attention, improve recall, and sharpen thinking skills.

Imaginative suggestions challenge students to think about, remember, compare, and perform mental activities that focus attention on the text.  Key graphics summarize data and concepts, while the text continues to relate previously discussed content to the topic under study.

Activity Book

The carefully planned Activity Book contains five relevant activities for each chapter: Building Your Vocabulary, Reviewing Significant Information, Building Your Writing Skills, Building Your Reading Skills, Quiz, and Word Search. The activities are compiled to enable students to develop core competencies and key skills, while applying the content of the textbook to purposeful, hypothetical situations. The tasks for each chapter become progressively more complex, allowing students to build on previously learned skills.

The Teacher's Guide

The Teacher's Guide includes answer keys, large and small class activities, and correlations to state standards that work in concert with the text and activity book to strengthen a vitally important facet of each student's citizenship education.

Satisfies Arizona law 15-710 requiring instruction in STATE and federal constitutions.
